Mythstuck II Chapter VIII
His mind raced as he looked around for the cabin with only two candles lit. In every window that he could see had distant, blurry lights on the window sill in only rows of three. "Please tell me I'm not the only one that sees it." Karkat looked to the other two men, "Can either of you see the cabin?" John squinted as he began to shake his head, "No, but I remember that there were numbers above the door. I thought we were cabin 8." His eyes glanced to Dave for any form of confirmation. He only shrugs, "I never noticed a room number; John could be right." Karkat nodded as he looked back to the group of cabins before the three of them began

The only thing that was lighting the room was two lighted candles by the window of a cabin. They were in one of the many cabins that were built in order to house the ones that were injured. One candle was to people that were leaving soon. Two candles were to people that would stay for a long time. Three candles were to the people that were never coming back again. In the first months of the apocalypse, it was depressing to see the number of three candles in the majority of the cabin's windows. Karkat felt that the room was heavier from the presence of a third, unlit candle next to the first two. The three of them sat beside the bed Carol

"Fucking what do you mean?" Karkat looked at him, raising an eyebrow and crossing his arms. "What do we do?" Kankri gulped, putting his hand on the back of his neck. "I'm unsure. Are you suggesting something?" Karkat looked up, realizing they were at the bottom of a hill. "Um, one of us goes up there and look around to see if the area's clear. If it is, we move on." Kankri nodded, "Yes. That is the most reasonable thing to do, but there is danger around." Karkat blew his bangs out of his face, "Okay, but could we be the danger? It's on fire, we came here by fire." Kankri pursed his lips and crossing his arms. "Perhaps. I'll go up since I'

Guilt was the only thing he could feel for the walk; the guilt of not talking to Dave before he left. Or at least not telling Arturo to talk to Dave for him. He huffed as he stepped under a tree, hiding from anything that could be aerial. He hadn't gotten a chance to look through the bag on his back. He wanted to meet this Kankri person first before he could look through the bag so he wasn't ambushed easily. His legs ached as he sighed, "How much farther north do I have to go before I can get to that damn place?" He looked north as he began walking, not expecting something to bite at his leg and pull him from the ground. Karkat flails, fe

"Vantas," Arturo said as he pulled Karkat into a small room, Karkat spotting a map of the county of Mono and those surrounding it. Push pins were pressed through it; most were red and few were white, Karkat gulping as he looked back to Mr. Nitram. "Yes?"
"I've been watching you. Studying movements, recording activity and such," Arturo began. Karkat felt like the wind was knocked out of him, nodding. "How long have I been under surveillance? One month? Two, even?" He shook his head, "Three years, actually." Karkat's heart stopped, watching him as he walked to a table, picking up a yellow file folder, it having few pages from the thinne

He thought Arturo flew. He knew the Nitrams were fairies, but he's only known Rufioh to fly. Instead of it, they walked through the forest towards the base.
"But isn't walking a dangerous thing to do?" Karkat asked quietly, "Through the woods like this, unarmed?" Arturo shook his head, "You may have to think about it, Karkat; we're not traveling by those noisy machines, were not using any form of magic to be tracked down to and it's the early morning. Alternians are nocturnal, mostly, and even if we are spotted, we can always defend ourselves. This, in fact, is the safest way to travel as of now." Karkat looked to him and looked at t

Mythstuck II Prologue
Once again, he stood on the Skaia's water tower. The only difference between then and now was a four-year difference. He watched over the rebuilding village, his gaze shifting over to the outside of the wall. The water tower was one of the only look-outs claimed by Skaian forces that over three miles away from the wall.
